Award Programs
AASA Distinguished Service Award
(Presented each year at the National Convention)
Up to five individuals are honored annually at the National AASA Convention. Nomination forms have to be requested from AASA and submitted by either AASA or State Executives and/or Officers. Nominees must be retired and have been an AASA member for at least 10 years, and rendered exemplary service at local, state, and national levels. Nominations must be received at the AASA office for each year's award cycle by September 15. Should you feel a Nebraska AASA member merits consideration for this award, contact the President-Elect or the Executive Director of NCSA sometime during the present year so that person can be nominated as one of the following year's recipients.
AASA Superintendent of the Year Program
(Presented each year in November at the NASB/NASA State Education Conference - Luncheon)
All AASA superintendents receive nomination forms. They must be mailed to AASA by the deadline set by AASA. Those nominees then receive an application packet from AASA. The completed applications are then mailed back to the state office (NCSA) in Nebraska. The President-Elect at the NASA Executive Committee meeting during the NASBO State Convention will present the nominations to the Executive Committee. The NASA Executive Committee will select the Nebraska nominee for that year. Recognition will be at Administrator's Days as well as the NASB/NASA State Convention.
NASA Honor Awards
(Presented each year in November at NASB/NASA Convention - Luncheon)
Each region will select and submit a NASA member to be honored at the Fall NASB/NASA Convention to the President-Elect by the last Friday in October. Criteria includes longevity of service, outstanding achievement, and contributions to education in Nebraska. Nominations should be submitted to the regional chairperson, and acted on by the individual regions. It is recommended that no more than (1) honoree be selected from each region. If for some reason there is a tie or the region wishes to submit more than (1) honoree, the President-Elect, President and the Past-President will decide whether a region can submit more than (1) honoree. This request must be made by the region chairperson.
