NCSA’s School Law is an annual one-day workshop that provides members up-to-date information on legal cases and issues that impact schools here in Nebraska. Join attorneys from the Perry Law Firm and KSB School Law to learn the most recent legal issues and rulings that schools need to be addressing.
8:30 Registration
We will review and cover recent and relevant court decisions affecting school districts.
In this session, Perry Law Firm Attorneys Jim Gessford and Kendall Oberheide will review the various initiative and referendum propositions on the ballot at the November 4th, 2024 general election that the public will be asking about in terms of how each impacts on your public school district’s ongoing operations.
The only thing certain about enrollment issues in Nebraska is they keep changing! Two years in a row the option laws changed, not to mention PK, repeating grades, and evergreen complexities of court and DHHS-involved youth. This presentation will be a fast-paced reminder of the state of the law, upcoming items for your to do list, and real examples we’ve seen so far this year.
We’ve now lived with the major changes to the discipline laws for a year. Thankfully, most administrators haven’t had to work through the new laws, but it’ll happen for every administrator eventually. This presentation will start with a quick reminder about those changes and move into the new discipline, digital citizenship, dress code, and related First Amendment trends and newest cases to know about this year.
