Administrators who address student discipline on a regular basis will benefit from reviewing the Nebraska Student Discipline Act, including the nuances and “gotchas” of the law.  In addition, administrators who may serve as a hearing officer will especially need a review and update on their role, requirements, and responsibilities.  This training will walk through the Student Discipline Act, including common scenarios, to provide a refresher on the law.  Then the focus will shift to the hearing process itself, including how hearing officers should handle the hearing, and how administrators should be prepared to present their case in a hearing.  With the recent student discipline-related amendments proposed in the Legislature, this is a great opportunity for administrators to get “up to speed” on the law and best practices.

Who Should Attend:       Administrators who regularly handle student discipline matters.
