School district advocacy is one of the more underrated aspects of the position of superintendent. This session will explore ways in which a superintendent can effectively promote his or her school district and the issues it faces.

11:00 - Preparing to be the Lead Communicator with Annette Eyman, Papillion La Vista Community Schools
Although everyone in a school district plays a role in delivering communication, the role of the superintendent is to provide the foundation and maintain effective systems. 11:45 - Lunch

12:15 - Marketing Yourself for the Superintendency with Dr. Andrea Haynes, Westside Community Schools

1:00 - Assessing the Financial Position of a District with Erin Heineman, South Sioux City Community Schools
Before deciding to apply to an open superintendent position, it’s good to consider how that district stands financially. This will provide you some insight into what you’ll be expected to address if you would accept that position. Erin will share ideas on how to assess the financial condition of a district as well as some financial duties to expect when you do land a job as the leader of a school district.

1:45 - Being Your Best Self and ESU Support with Dr. John Skretta, ESU #6
ESU #6 Director, Dr. John Skretta, shares strategies and offers practical advice on finding and maintaining balance. He will describe how to master the intensive and stressful demands of leading a district or organization while honoring personal commitments - to yourself - and as a parent, a spouse, and friend to others.

2:30 - What Scares You? with Drs. Keith Rohwer and Mike Sieh, NCSA
Participants will be given the opportunity to ask Drs. Rohwer and Sieh questions that scare them about entering the rank of superintendent through an open dialogue session.
