(Position Duties)
After graduating from Chase County High School in Imperial (Go Horns!) I moved to Lincoln to attend college. After graduation, Jerry Sellentin and Mike Dulaney offered me a full time position and thus began my career at NCSA 14 years ago, as the Administrative Assistant. I am now the Executive Assistant to NCSA and Manager of the Nebraska Speech-Language and Hearing Association (NSLHA).
People have often asked me why I've been at NCSA for so long. My response, "I really like where I am. I enjoy working with educators and with those that help people with special needs."
I do a lot of the behind the scenes work for NCSA. I process all convention/workshop registration forms, name badges and lists. I do all invoicing for events and monthly billing. I am also the accounts receivable department, working closely with the finance department. I can also send out reports members may want. I maintain all office equipment and supplies. I also help Mike and Dan keep up on building maintenance. One of my happiest moments was when NCSA finally got under ground sprinklers!
The fall of 2000, I had been working at NCSA for a while and was looking for something more. I was approached and asked if I was interested in the Manager position for NSLHA. I of course said yes and have enjoyed this challenge since.
NSLHA is made up of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists across Nebraska, 500+ and growing every year! These professionals work in a school, clinical or a private setting. NSLHA has its own board of directors, lobbyist, monthly financials, budget, audit, committees, membership drive, newsletter, website (www.nslha.org), convention and workshops. I also work with the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association (ASHA); which is NSLHA's National Association.
As many of you know, I am an animal lover so I volunteer at a no-kill cat shelter in Lincoln. I've also been helping with the Lincoln Track Club. I'm not a runner, I just don't know how to say no. I also love to travel especially to tropical areas.
I look forward to making more memories and friends in the future. If we haven't met yet don't be shy, say hi.
