The Superior Public Schools, Superior, Nebraska, Board of Education, is seeking a highly qualified and fully certified Superintendent. The Board wishes to have the successful candidate assume the responsibilities of the position July 1, 2018.

McPherson & Jacobson, L.L.C., Executive Recruitment and Development has been engaged as the consultant in a search for outstanding candidates. They will assist the board of education in identifying and screening the candidates.

Location: 90 miles southwest of Beatrice, 80 miles south of Grand Island

The Qualifications

The candidate must have the background, skills, and abilities essential for excellence in educational leadership. The board recognizes that selecting a superintendent is one of the most important decisions it will make. The board has identified the following desired characteristics:

• A strong confident leader with exceptional work ethic who leads by example establishing high expectations and vision for the district by analyzing needs; and achieves these ambitious district goals by effectively delegating and motivating staff.

• Strong budget and financial skills to progressively plan for future needs and is knowledgeable in how to explore and pursue alternative and creative funding sources.

• A dynamic communicator that inspires and empowers others towards constant improvement and innovation in the education and the development of the whole child. Will have courage to be a catalyst for change in our district while striving to be aware and respectful of tradition.

• An open-minded, community leader who is flexible and able to respectfully and fairly engage with stakeholders, staff and students to collaborate ideas that move our district forward as leaders in education. Will effectively communicate and create excitement about our district’s future and build student & community engagement in the district.

• An instructional leader, who is innovative, progressive, and willing to engage in difficult conversations to improve the district and create a culture of excellence where everyone feels encouraged, equipped, empowered and held accountable to attain personal excellence.
