NCSA holds this annual workshop to help those looking to pursue a superintendency position.  Training is provided by experienced administrators and professionals in specific areas to help you prepare for, transition into, and become a great superintendent.

8:30 Leadership Perspectives of the Superintendent
Dana Wiseman, Sutton Public Schools
Successful superintendent, Dana Wiseman, has an outstanding track record of providing progressive and quality leadership for her district.  Dana will share with you her perspective of superintendent leadership for staff, students, and community.

9:15 Marketing Yourself on Paper
Dr. Enid Schonewise, Westside Community Schools
This session will help attendees learn proven resume and cover letter techniques in order to allow you to present yourself in a manner that will enhance your application. Samples will be provided.

10:15   Being Your Best Self
Dr. John Skretta, Norris School District
Norris Superintendent, Dr. John Skretta, shares strategies and offers practical advice on finding and maintaining balance. He will describe how to master the intensive and stressful demands of the superintendency while honoring personal commitments - to yourself - and as a parent, a spouse, and friend to others.

Dr. Mike Dulaney, Executive Director, NCSA 
School district advocacy is one of the more under-rated aspects of the position of superintendent.  This session will explore ways in which a superintendent can effectively promote his or her school district and the issues it faces.

12:15 Internal and External Prep
Dr. Jim Sutfin, Millard Public Schools
In this session, Dr. Jim Sutfin will help you prepare for, succeed in, and appropriately follow up from an interview.  He will review questions you are likely to be asked and examples of best practice.  This session will prepare you to walk into interviews with confidence.

1:00 Preparing to be the Lead Communicator
Annette Eyman, Papillion-LaVista Community Schools
Although everyone in a school district plays a role in delivering communication, the role of the Superintendent is to provide the foundation and maintain effective systems.  Papillion La Vista Director of Communications Annette Eyman will discuss the importance and challenges of being a lead communicator.

2:00 The Superintendent Transition Plan
Dr. Dan Ernst, NCSA
Dr. Ernst will review first-year superintendent transition plans and discuss the components of what should be included and why transition plans are important to the new superintendent.  In addition, you will learn how to organize your materials in a way that will allow you to best promote your candidacy.
