This workshop will provide you with tools to effectively manage school business matters and prepare for filing the Affordable Care Act forms. The school attorneys will give a legal review and updates on a variety of the legal "basics" and then expand to more complex subjects. The information will include:

  • Affordable Care Act: updates and review of the essentials, including timelines and tracking data that you should be implementing; thorough review of ACA forms.
  • Payroll: child support, tax liens, garnishments, withholdings, and more.
  • Records Retention: the requirements under various state and federal laws.
  • FERPA: what you can and cannot disclose, when you can disclose it, and pertinent forms.
  • Copyrights: responding to copyright infringement letters, preventing copyright claims in the future, what constitutes fair use, and other common issues.
  • Student Fees: what you can and cannot charge students and other miscellaneous expenses.

Who should attend:
           Superintendents, Business Officials, Bookkeepers, and others involved in school business matters

Materials will include:

  • Outlines covering the legal aspects of the workshop topics
  • Detailed guidance and instruction on the new Affordable Care Act forms
  • Sample forms relating to school business matters such as FERPA, superintendent pay, and more
  • Practical advice regarding other legal issues to be discussed

Registrants will receive the workshop materials in a notebook and on a CD.
