Abstract This research study used a quantitative, correlational method to examine the relationship between teachers’ stress levels and their intentions to leave their current positions at the end of the school year, in the next three years, and in the next five years. The Teacher Stress Inventory (TSI) was used to measure teachers’ stress levels and a Likert-type scale was used to measure teachers’ intentions to leave their current positions. The surveys were distributed to 2000 Nebraska public school teachers who were randomly selected from a list of 21,751 teachers. Based on the data obtained in the study, higher stress levels were associated with stronger intentions of teachers to leave their current positions relative to 25 of the 33 correlations.
